Lauren’s story

i’m a gymnast and a dancer so i hated having the scar and it was itching like mad

I was only 13 and doing a cooking activity at Guides, when the pan I was cooking with fell over and the fat burnt my legs.

I didn’t realise I had burnt myself until later on because it didn’t actually hurt when it happened! Now we think that was because it was such a deep burn it killed some of the nerves in my leg.

I was eventually sent to the burns unit at Salisbury. I had to have a skin graft. I had weeks off school but I ended up with a bad scar. I’m a Gymnast and a dancer so I hated having the scar and it was itching like mad. I just couldn’t stop it, nothing worked. It was not a good time.

They called Mark down from the Laser Clinic and he thought that laser treatment might help.

The treatments really helped the itching subside and eventually it didn’t come back at all. The colour gradually came out of the scar and it looked a lot better after a few months. If you look at the photos, you can see that it’s made a massive difference.

It was painful but I’m glad I did it. I don’t have the itching any more. I was even given the title of Gymnast of the Year for my club that year.

It was absolutely fantastic care. I would suggest anyone come here if they don’t like the look of their scar and at least give it a try.
